Hey guys, this is a Request For Recipe haha. Can this be a thing? I’m making it a thing!

Basically I want to provide some simple recipes to my mum’s maid so she can vary up the stuff she cooks a bit. My mum is shrinking at an alarming rate, partly due to her cancer progressing and causing her to be unable to digest food properly, partly due to a bout of food poisoning she had a few weeks ago which brought back her acid reflux with a vengence, and partly I think due to general sianness with the things her maid has been cooking. Staples in her household have been mince meat porridges, double boiled pork loin scallop soup (which is actually amazing I’ll share the recipe next time, but can get sian if you take it every day), chicken soup with beehoon, and hard boiled egg whites. Not the most incredible of aromas as you can imagine, and not very appetizing stuff.

So I want to pick your collective brains and crowdsource recipes! Here are the recipe parameters! (Best imagined in the voice of the announcer from Iron Chef.)

Ingredients to avoid:

  • Fatty foods
  • Spicy foods
  • Acidic foods, like tomatoes and citrus
  • Mint
  • Chocolate
  • Garlic
  • Onions
  • Coffee or any caffeinated beverage
  • Carbonated beverages
  • Grapefruit, pomelo, pineapple, oranges (interacts with her cancer medicine)
  • Avocado (hates the taste)
  • Beef (can’t digest easily)
  • High fibre food, like extremely leafy vegetables, and stems of vegetables. Too much fibre and her intestines may get blocked
  • White rice (she’s begun to hate the taste)

Ideally:

  • Food should be easy to digest, we have a baby food puree thing that we can use for her too!
  • Grains other than white rice welcome like noodles etc.
  • Flavours outside the regular spectrum of Chinese food highly welcome!
  • Breakfast, snack type food also highly welcome because she should be taking more frequent and smaller meals anyway

Is there polenta available in SG? It’s super fast to make. And goes well with something like stewed mushrooms or anything that involves gravy.
